March 16: Name Change, Young Ocean Explorers, The Crash Narrative, and Perfect Freq

I have news!  Firstly, I’m going to be gradually updating everything to reflect my new artist name: “The Andy Gibson Project”.  Visit to keep up with things.  *****

Secondly, on March 17 I’m playing at the official launch of the Young Ocean Explorers book and DVD at Kelly Tarlton’s. Jamie McDell is playing too… can’t wait!  *****

Thirdly, my Melbourne buddy Sam and I have been working on an EP together for approximately 1700 years, and it’s DONE! It will be released on July 1st 2015.  The name of our duo is: “The Crash Narrative”  … Visit to keep up.  *****

Fourthly and lastly, I have recorded a song for the latest album by the truly gifted and prolific artist Trillion (Jody Lloyd).  Jody wrote the song and I recorded an acoustic version of it, to which ex-Ragamuffin Child Anita added beautiful strings. It is the final track on the album and it is available now at  *****

NZ Music Month in Wellington

Later in May, Andy will be playing a series of outdoor gigs as part of Wellington City Council’s NZ Music Month programme. Andy will be debuting a new set of songs from album number three, which is currently under construction. More details to follow soon.

After a year of working hard to up my vocal game singing jazz at the New Zealand School of Music, I’m happy to announce my end of year recital: featuring the intensely talented band of Charmaine Ford (Sydney) on piano, Nick Tipping on bass, and Reuben Bradley on drums, along with a bunch of other guests.

August 10: ‘Vine’ gets 40,000+ YouTube hits!

My song Vine has had over 43,000 listens on YouTube in the last month (!!!

‘Vine’ is from my 1999 EP ‘The Current Fixture’. The song came out of a dream I had, and is about becoming independent from those that shelter you, and taking risks.

Avenged Sevenfold is California-based metal band, and they’ve had Vine streaming on their website for the last month or so, at

Somebody posted a video of the song on YouTube speculating that it might be a new Avenged Sevenfold song – which sparked a lot of debate amongst the fans , who eventually discovered it was little old me! 

Under very weird circumstances, I’m so happy my song has reached such a big audience! I’ve re-released the EP with a bonus live recording of ‘Vine’, at The video for this live recording is here:

December 13: Singing Cameo in Upcoming Feature Film: Mt. Zion

Andy Gibson plays the lead singer of the 1970s group Golden Harvest in ‘Mt. Zion’, directed by Te Arepa Kahi and starring Stan Walker and Temuera Morrison. Mt. Zion will be released to cinemas on February 6 2013 – check it out!

The new album ‘Trans-Pacific Partnership’ by Trillion, Lewka, New English & Subsketch includes two tracks featuring Andy Gibson.

You can listen to the songs at Track 5, ‘Don’t Dream’ is by New English, and Track 18, ‘Re-imagine’, by Trillion, is a tribute to John Lennon.

Both of these songs have recently been playlisted on Plains FM in Christchurch.

April 22: Growthbusters Soundtrack Album

The song ‘Affluenza’ by Senses of Walden (my side project duo with Samuel Alexander) is appearing on this fundraiser album for the documentary on the merits of slowing economic growth, to check out the tracklist and have a listen, go to  The album also features “A Shadow Stirs” by Samuel Alexander, which I contributed some vocals to.
